Anyone within a shouting distance from Rockland County, NY come rediscover the White-Blazed Trail on Buttermilk Falls.
After not having been maintained in a year, L&O and I have been busy clearing the trail once again.
The White Trail begins at the south end of the Buttermilk Falls parking area and ends at the Long Path in Sean Hunter Memorial County Park. It can also be hiked as a loop by starting at the Blue Trail at the north end of the Buttermilk Falls parking area then connect to the Orange-Blazed Trail which ends at a fork in the White-Blazed Trail, be sure to turn right onto the White-Blazed Trail to complete the loop.
The White-Blazed Trail is a moderate hike with streams, swamp areas, a pine grove and did I mention wine berries? Yep, they're edible! Enjoy!
