Road Trip!

Caledonia State Park lies about 5 miles west of Gettysburg, PA in the town of Fayetteville, at the crossroads of US 30 and PA 233.
Boasting over 1,125 acres, Caledonia is in the northernmost section of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The park was named after Thaddeus Stevens' charcoal iron furnace, named Caledonia. Operation began in 1837 and ran until 1863, when the confederate army destroyed the furnace.
With over 10 hiking trails (including 1.8 miles of the Appalachian Trail), fishing, swimming, hunting, and picnic areas, there is something for everyone and every mood.

Pennsylvania was one of my favorite states on the Appalachian Trail, despite all those boot-busting rocks in the northern portion. Spent a lazy, summer afternoon in Caledonia SP before pressing on a few more miles to the next lean-to.

Welcome Deb!
I'm starting to really appreciate PA myself! I had to drag myself away from Caledonia, what a beautiful and inviting park, but they have a heck of an uphill climb of the AT onsite! Whew!
